Sharing your email address with us during the sign-in process will not result in a deluge of unsolicited email from Givers by Design. While we anticipate that we may have important announcements to make in the future, these announcements will be made very infrequently, no more than a few times per year. Should we decide to begin a program of regular email contact in the future, you will be given the opportunity to opt out.

As such, we do not desire to control the conversation; however, to best facilitate these discussions, Givers by Design reserves the right to delete or edit comments, as follows:

•Comments that contain profanity or offensive content will also be edited or deleted to preserve an atmosphere of trust and respect
•Comments that are not pertinent to the discussion, or seek to take the discussion off topic, will be deleted or edited as necessary
•Comments that are considered to be potential spam will be deleted
•Links to articles or posts which are pertinent to the discussion are welcomed and encouraged; however, we ask that such links number no more than two in any given comment

Givers by Design maintains a strict zero-revenue policy at all times. Givers by Design sells no products; nor do we accept paid advertising, click-through fees, percentages, commissions, or any other form of compensation. Givers by Design does not solicit donations for itself or for any of the organizations that we highlight or refer to.
Because of this zero-revenue policy, we have elected not to pursue designation as a charitable or not-for-profit organization by the IRS under section 501 (c) 3.
To put the forgoing in plainer English, Givers by Design is not a 501(c)3 non-profit because it’s a whole bunch of red tape, and we don’t have any income or donations anyway! Let’s hope that the expenses stay small so that we can keep it this way!
All links to external web pages are provided as a service to our users at Givers by Design. No click-through fees are collected. Your visits to these external sites are not tracked by Givers by Design.
Givers by Design is not connected in any way to any of the organizations to which links are provided. Givers by Design is not responsible for the content on the web pages that we provide links to. If you find that one of our links is broken, out-of-date, or inappropriate, please advise us here.

Express written permission is required for any and all commercial or for-profit uses; email preliminary inquiries here.
GiversbyDesign.org is a stand alone website; it is not connected to any other website or domain for purposes of data or information collection, sharing, or aggregation. In the interests of complete transparency, we want you to know that the operator of this site also maintains two other sites related to this ministry.
MendingTheHole.org is a site devoted to encouraging church leadership to read and use the book The Hole in Our Gospel with their congregations. To this end, Mending the Hole has arranged for discounted purchases of the book with no quantity restrictions; those interested in purchasing books are referred to World Vision Resources. Mending the Hole maintains a zero revenue policy, meaning it sells no products, collects no click-through fees or any other form of income or compensation, nor does it solicit donations.
PackBarefoot.com, is a small for-profit site that sells a niche product (packable daypack) to the travel market. Since inception, 100% of profits have been donated to World Vision to support their work with the world’s poor.
For income tax purposes, the above three ministries (sites) are operated under the registered trade name Barefoot Enterprises. Beginning 2011, MendingTheHole.org’s and GiversByDesign.org’s expenses are supported through sales receipts from PackBarefoot.com. All profits from PackBarefoot.com (before deduction of expenses from MendingTheHole.org and GiversByDesign.org) continue to be donated to World Vision.
All three sites have their own Facebook pages for social networking purposes. Twitter and LinkedIn profiles may be added in the future.
GiversbyDesign.org is a stand alone website; the above named sites share a common owner/operator, but operate on different servers, and the domains are not linked or connected in any way. Data/information from the individual sites is not shared between sites in any way, in aggregate or individually. If you have any questions or concerns, we would be happy to address them; please email us here.
The following information is not intended to be a complete statement of faith, such as one might find on a church website. Rather, the following points provide answers to some of the more common questions we have received about the faith background that we work from.
•We are unapologetically Christian in our beliefs and in our work, holding the preeminence of Christ and the authority of scripture to be above all things.
•As an organization, we are not associated with any particular denomination. For purposes of this site, we hold no preference, prejudice, or bias towards any particular denomination(s).
•The principal authors of this site worship at a “plain old” Presbyterian church, coming from a theological background that could be described as Protestant, Reformed, and Evangelical in nature.
•We acknowledge that true believers may disagree with our views in whole or in part, and respect their right to do so.
•We are not a part of what was termed, in the early part of the last century, the “Social Gospel Movement” – those who placed social transformation above Christ in priority, and who viewed Christ as a means to social ends. We plainly and explicitly affirm Christ’s preeminence and authority over all peoples, things, causes, and means.
•While we give particular emphasis on this site to the work of serving the world’s least and last in the name of Christ, we do not advocate salvation by works, specifically salvation by means of serving the poor. We affirm the truth of Ephesians 2:8-10, believing that we are saved by grace through faith, for the good works that the Father has planned for us.
•Our work at Givers by Design has been inspired and informed by a number of excellent Christian books, particularly The Hole in Our Gospel, by Richard Stearns. For a complete list of these books, refer to the Recommended Reading section of our Resources page.
•While we are at times critical of the Church, we by no means stand opposed to her or her God-given mission in the world. On the contrary, we seek to help her towards reclaiming a position of relevance and reputation in the eyes of a watching world by encouraging her historical obedience in, and passion for, serving the least and the last.
