“Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.”
Notice the thing that all of these suggestions for “Christian Living” have in common: Other-Centeredness, versus Self-Centeredness. This is the heart of the “love one another” bit that the Gospel urges us towards. The opposite of Love, the essence of which is other-centered, seems not to be hate, but rather, self-centeredness. The cool thing is that the application for our daily living is very, very concrete, not some hard-to-grasp mystical fluff.
