1 Peter 3:8

“Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.”

Notice the thing that all of these suggestions for “Christian Living” have in common:  Other-Centeredness, versus Self-Centeredness.  This is the heart of the “love one another” bit that the Gospel urges us towards.  The opposite of Love, the essence of which is other-centered, seems not to be hate, but rather, self-centeredness.  Check out 1 Corinthians 13, the famous exposition on the nature of Love, and see what you think.  The cool thing is that the application for our daily living is very, very concrete, not some hard-to-grasp mystical fluff.
